Intro to Digital Media

This is an introductory, project-based course focusing on foundational skills in design, print, photo, video, and web-based applications. Students will explore foundational photography and design principles, and the creative role of visual communication through interaction in print, video, and web-based platforms. Students will learn a variety of industry-recognized digital software programs and techniques. Students will analyze the role of web design and social media
in business advertising and marketing. Units focus on projects that allow students to design, build, create, or produce various digital media products that can be used on a variety of digital platforms. Students will also explore careers in this rapidly expanding industry sector. Upon completion, students will be able to apply basic digital media knowledge in concentrator and capstone courses in a chosen CTE Digital Media Arts specialization, including on campus student media and print or online publications, and in internships with industry professionals.
