Humanities AP American Government

This course is designed to challenge higher thinking students with an in-depth study of the Constitutional underpinnings of American Government, the political behavior of citizens, political parties and interest groups, the institutions and policy processes of the national government, and the status and development of civil rights and civil liberties. The University of California recognizes this as an AP class and adds one point when computing one’s G.P.A. Students must
be enrolled in American Government AP/Economics for the year in order to receive the inflated grade point average for American Government AP.

Humanities Academy Senior Year

The Humanities Academy is a program that allows students to take humanities courses (English, history, Spanish) in an academy setting. The goals of the Academy are to create close connections between students, teachers, parents, and the community; to give students more consistency in expectations and continuity in curriculum; and to use performance as a basis for assessment and evaluation. The Humanities Academy focuses on the acquisition of cultural knowledge, values, and wisdom essential for the well-rounded individual in the 21st century.

In Humanities, seniors take Government/Economics. Honors and AP courses are available.

This program is rigorous but is not just for college bound students. It was created for self-directed students who are serious about their education and who want some flexibility in their daily schedule and course work.

12th graders will have core subjects on campus as well as opportunities to work onprojects outside of the traditional classroom.
