This course is designed to introduce students to the basic principles, concepts and techniques of Environmental Science. All students will have the opportunity to develop a foundation in science preparing them to study any type of science in college, in addition to understanding science and its instrumental role in society. Students in this course are required to participate in field studies concerning local air, water and sol surveys of the Sierra Nevada Foothills. Students have the opportunity to participate in field trips to local mining sites, waste management plants, national forest retreats, local organic farms, etc.
