N.G.S.S. Environmental science is a course dedicated to understanding the interactions between Earth’s natural systems (biosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, geosphere) and the demands placed on them by the human population. This course surveys the scientific principles behind natural phenomena and resource cycles and explores how we utilize these systems and our impact. Students will propose and evaluate potential solutions for the resulting consequences of resource mismanagement and exploitation. This interdisciplinary course includes elements of life science, physical science, and social science. Whenever possible, local and regional examples will be used as case studies and students will gain perspective on their place in our local ecosystem and on Earth.
