Spanish 1
Students begin work on the four skills required for learning a foreign language: listening, speaking,
reading and writing. They will understand and produce the language, develop the four skills to meet survival
needs in the classroom, react in a limited fashion in social situations, understand and answer in one
sentence in oral and written form, and respond with some spontaneity to an oral question or situation. The
content commonly includes: greetings, descriptions, sports, school, hobbies, time, weather, feelings and
family relations. The Spanish culture is also taught. This course requires much memorization and daily
preparation.
