To participate in our Summer practices, all new and returning NUHS student athletes must be registered and “Approved” in AriberSports (formally FamilyID). To be “Approved” in ArbiterSports you need to successfully register and email a scanned copy of a clear Sports Physical from your health care provider on or after May 20, 2024 (April 1 for Cheer; April 20 for Football) to Suzanne Bernadett, ASB/Athletics Technician at sbernadett@njuhsd.com.

Cheer - Tryouts
Dates: April 15-19th
Time: 4-6pm
Where: Wrestling Gym
Important Information: The NU Cheer Team is excited to hold tryouts for the 2024-2025 school year! April 15th-19th we will be holding tryouts for all returning students and incoming Freshmen. All prospective Cheerleaders must register on ArbiterSports and have a clear sports physical before trying out.

Important Information: NU Cross Country is training all Summer in anticipation of the 2024 season! We will be training 3 days week in June and July. The Summer training session ends with our annual Team Camp in Mammoth from July 29th to August 3rd. We welcome all skill levels! The NU Cross Country team is a great place to compete, to be a part of a supportive team culture, and train for Winter and Spring sports.

Boys Athletic Programs
Boys Water Polo
Dates:June 10 - June 27, and July 15 through August 1
Time: Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays from 6-8pm
Where: NU Pool
Important Information: Boys Water Polo is a Fall sport - the official season starts when school starts. We are looking for new freshmen and sophomore players. Tryouts are in August when we start school - we have Varsity & Frosh/Soph squads. NO experience is necessary to enjoy and excel in Water Polo. If you can throw, swim, or have played team sports, this may be the sport for you. Water Polo is Fun! It is a great cross training sport for Basketball, Lacrosse, Soccer, Swimming, Snowboarding, Wrestling, Baseball (and more!).

NUHS Athletics 2024 Summer Youth Camps
To keep our young community active, engaged, and developing their program-specific skills, the NUHS Athletics department is offering the following learning opportunities this summer. These opportunities are open to the public to participate in and directly benefit the young men and women who attend, as well as the programs who execute them. Each camp has specific information and steps for participation.
All camps organized and executed are fundraisers for our NU Athletics programs. Proceeds are used directly on our student-athletes.

Boys Basketball - Through Nevada County Gold Basketball
Dates: June 10-June 13
Time: 5-8pm
Where: Ali & West Gyms, NUHS
Cost: $100.00 - Cost includes a camp T-shirt
Information: Camp director and head Nevada Union boys varsity basketball coach Mark Casey invites third to eighth grade boys — their grade entering fall 2024 — to a basketball camp focused on fundamentals, skills and fun. Coach Casey’s varsity, junior varsity and freshman coaches and players will be in attendance to teach kids shooting, ball handling, passing, defense and rebounding in a fun and fast environment. Important Information: Join the Lady Miners for a fun basketball camp designed to help players of all skill levels improve their game! Current Nevada Union players and coaches will provide expert instruction and guidance in a supportive and encouraging environment! During the camp, participants will have the opportunity to develop a range of fundamental basketball skills, including dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense.
In addition to skills training, campers will participate in team-building exercises and games designed to improve their ability to work collaboratively on the court. Our coaches will also focus on developing each player's individual strengths and addressing areas for improvement. The Lady Miners basketball camp is open to players of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced athletes. Whether you're just starting out or looking to take your game to the next level, this camp is a great opportunity to learn from current high school players and have fun playing basketball!
Important Information: This 5-day camp is designed to develop the skill set of incoming 6th, 7th, 8th, & 9th graders interested in Volleyball. Instruction in proper technique for all basic skills, plus a variety of group and game situation drills and team play. Offensive and defensive systems will be presented. Come learn directly from current and former Nevada Union Volleyball coaches and players! This camp is recommended but not required for those who want to play in high school.

NU Kids Co-Ed Water Polo Summer Training - Ages 10 - 14
Dates: June 17 - June 27, and July 15-July 30
Time: Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays; 4pm to 6pm
Where: NUHS Pool
Important Information: The NU Boys Water Polo Head Coach, Lotty Hellested, and staff are hosting a summer training program for boys and girls aged 11-14. Come learn the game of Water Polo, hone your skills, have fun with friends, and try something new! New players are welcome! Try it, it’s fun!
Requirement: you must be able to swim 1 lap of the pool lengthwise without stopping.

Boys Lacrosse Camp - 1st to 10th Grade
Dates: June 24th - 28th
Location: Nevada Union High School - Hooper Stadium
Times: 11am - 1pm
Ages: Players who will be in 1st - 12th grades in the fall
Cost: $150
Imformation: This 5-day skills camp is for EVERYONE! This camp will be coached by current Nevada Union Boys Lacrosse coaches and players, including Head Coach Sam Carroll. Players will be grouped by skill level to allow for the best experience possible. Join us for a fun week of lacrosse!
-Never picked up a stick before? Perfect! We will cover all of the fundamentals and get you started on your lacrosse journey.
-Played for a season, or a few, and ready for a new challenge? Awesome! Brush up on your skills and learn new ones to prepare for your spring season.
-Ready to step up to high school level lacrosse or thinking about joining NU Lacrosse in the spring? You will be ahead of the game come spring by learning the offensive and defensive principles coached at NU, and get a taste of the pace and intensity of a high school practice.
Proper technique for passing, catching, shooting, and picking up ground balls will be the primary focus. Fast paced drills that utilize these skills in game like scenarios will be used to improve ability and speed. Game play will supplement at all levels to provide for some friendly competition and a chance to put what you've learned to the test.
Required Equipment: If you have lacrosse gear already, please bring with you to camp. If you do not, sticks are available to loan for the week. Cleats are recommended, but not required. Bring a water bottle and a snack each day.
Important Information: The Next Level Flag Football Camp teaches sound fundamental offensive and defensive football skills to both experienced and beginner youth athletes. Individual and group drills will be demonstrated to teach basic techniques. Proper warm-up, physical conditioning, skills drills and review are part of each scheduled session!
NU Head Varsity Football Coach Brad Sparks, assisted by local high school athletes in week 2, will execute the Next Level Flag Football Camp Programs. Camp focus will be on core skill development (offensive and defensive principles), proper play execution, understanding situational roles, and of course...Next Level Game Action!

Boys Volleyball - Grades 7 - 10
Dates: August 5-7
Time: 9am-12pm
Where: Ali Gym, NUHS
Cost: $75 - Payment and paperwork due 1st day of the Camp
Important Information: This is a chance for boys, entering grades 7-10 to receive instruction on proper technique for all basic and advanced skills, including serving, passing, hitting, footwork, team offense and defense. This will involve group and game situation drills and team play. Instructors are current and former NU Volleyball players and coaches. All proceeds go to support the NU Boys Volleyball Program.
