NUHS Athletics 2022 Summer Practice Programs - High School Only
To participate in our Summer practices, all new and returning NUHS student athletes must be registered and “Approved” in FamilyID. To be “Approved” in FamilyID you need to successfully register and email a scanned copy of a clear Sports Physical from your health care provider on or after May 25, 2022 (April 1 for Cheer; April 18 for Football) to Suzanne Bernadett, ASB/Athletics Technician at sbernadett@njuhsd.com.

Co-Ed Athletic Programs
Cross Country
Dates: Summer practices begin June 20
Time: Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays; 8am to 9:30am
Where: Set Location on each day
Optional Strength Training Workout: 10am-11am, NUHS Weight Room
Important Information: Newcomers and returners are always welcome. While summer practices are the best way to improve and get ready for the season, they do not play a role in determining who is on the fall roster. Information on the Nevada Union Cross Country and Track & Field teams can be found on theteam web page.

Cheer - Tryouts
Dates: May 3-5th
Time: 5-7pm
Where: NU Cafeteria
Important Information: The NU Cheer Team is excited to hold tryouts for the 2022-2023 school year! May 3rd-5th we will be holding tryouts for all returning students and incoming Freshmen. All prospective Cheerleaders must register on FamilyID and have a clear sports physical before trying out. Make sure you select the 2022-2023 school year when registering. Dead Period Pre-Season Conditioning: July 25-August 15; M/T/W/TH; 6-8pm
Important Information: Boys Water Polo is a Fall sport - the official season starts when school starts. We are looking for new freshmen and sophomore players. NO experience is necessary to enjoy and excel in Water Polo. If you can throw, swim, or have played team sports, this may be the sport for you. Water Polo is Fun! It is a great cross training sport for Basketball, Lacrosse, Soccer, Swimming, Snowboarding, Wrestling (and more!).
Basketball - Incoming Freshman Dates: June 13 - June 30 Time: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays; 5pm to 7pm Where: Ali Gym, NUHS Important Information: These summer practices are for prospective Freshman Boys Basketball student-athletes. Student-athletes will learn the NU Miner system, develop their Basketball skill set and acumen, and work together to accomplish team goals. We will likely compete in at least 3 tournaments over the summer session. While summer practices are the best way to improve and get ready for the season, they do not play a role in determining who is on the Winter roster. Boys Basketball - JV & Varsity
Dates: March 21 - June 30
Time: Monday-Thursday; 6:45-9:30pm
Where: Ali Gym, NUHS
Important Information: Spring and Summer practices are for prospective JV and Varsity Boys Basketball student-athletes. We will be competing in a number of weekend tournaments. While summer practices are the best way to improve and get ready for the season, they do not play a role in determining who is on the Winter roster. All potential team members must try out in November.
-June 13-30th: Monday - Thursday, 7am to 9:30am (V & JV); 5pm to 7:30pm (Frosh)
-July 12-22: 3:30pm to 6pm (All Levels)

Important Information: Players should wear shorts, t-shirt, and tennis shoes to practice. They will also be required to bring cleats and their own water bottle that has their name on it.

NUHS Athletics 2022 Summer Youth Camps
To keep our young community active, engaged, and developing their program-specific skills, the NUHS Athletics department is offering the following learning opportunities this summer. These opportunities are open to the public to participate in and directly benefit the young men and women who attend, as well as the programs who execute them. Each camp has specific information and steps for participation.

Football - Non-Contact Air Raid Skills Camp
Dates: May 15th & May 22nd
Time: 1pm - 3pm
Where: Hooper Stadium, NUHS
Age Group: 10-14 years old
Cost: $75 per person
Important Information: Calling all offensive skill positions! Yes, you too, Offensive Lineman! Come learn new skills and techniques directly from the NU Miner Coaching staff to be the best that you can be! This 1 or 2 day, non-contact, skills camp will be a great way to get ready for the 2022 Fall Football season, make some new friends, and have a lot of fun in the process. Make sure your son or daughter comes dressed appropriately in T-shirt and shorts, wearing athletic shoes, and brings a water bottle with their name on it.

Boys Basketball - Through Nevada County Gold Basketball
Dates: June 13-June 16
Time: 4:30-8:00pm

Cost: $100.00 - Cost includes a camp T-shirt
Information: Camp director and head Nevada Union boys varsity basketball coach Mark Casey invites third to eighth grade boys — their grade entering fall 2022 — to a basketball camp focused on fundamentals, skills and fun, a news release states. Coach Casey’s varsity, junior varsity and freshman coaches and players will be in attendance to teach kids shooting, ball handling, passing, defense and rebounding in a fun and fast environment. NU Kids Co-Ed Water Polo Summer Training - Ages 10 - 14
Dates: June 15 - July 22 - No July 4th camp activity
Time: Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursday; 4pm to 6pm
Where: NUHS Pool
Important Information: The NU Boys Water Polo Head Coach, Lotty Hellested, and staff are hosting a month long co-ed summer training program for boys and girls aged 10-14. Come learn the game of Water Polo, hone your skills, have fun with friends, and try something new! New players are welcome! Try it, it’s fun!
Registration Forms: There is a minimum of 20 participants and a maximum of 35. Email Head Varsity Coach Lotty Hellested at lhellested@njuhsd.com to obtain registration forms.
Important Information: This 5-day camp is designed to develop the skill set of incoming 6th, 7th, 8th, & 9th graders interested in Volleyball. Instruction in proper technique for all basic skills, plus a variety of group and game situation drills and team play. Offensive and defensive systems will be presented. Come learn directly from current and former Nevada Union Volleyball coaches and players! This camp is recommended but not required for those who want to play in high school.

Important Information: The Lady Miners Summer Basketball Skills Camp is open to all girls who will be entering grades 5-8 in the fall of 2022. The camp will focus on skill development for team development. Shaping young women to be: Courageous, Competitive, Classy and Capable!
Cost: $50 - Payment and paperwork due 1st day of the Camp
Important Information: This is a chance for boys, entering grades 7-10 to receive instruction on proper technique for all basic and advanced skills, including serving, passing, hitting, footwork, team offense and defense. This will involve group and game situation drills and team play. Instructors are current and former NU volleyball players and coaches. All proceeds go to support the NU Boys Volleyball Program.
